How it works

Biology, doing what it does best.

Baczyme puts living bacteria exactly where waste collects — then they multiply and digest it. No masking, no harsh chemistry; the organic load is actually broken down and removed.

The mechanism

Living bacteria that make enzymes on demand

Every Baczyme product carries a consortium of naturally occurring bacteria which are supplied dormant, so it stores stably for up to two years. Dosed into a drain, tank or pit, the bacteria wake up in the wastewater, multiply, and start producing the enzymes that break organic waste apart — targeting fats and grease, proteins, starches, paper and plant fibre.

Because those enzymes are produced on demand in response to what’s actually in the system, the treatment adapts to the load in front of it rather than relying on a fixed chemical reaction. Large organic solids are first liquefied, then digested, which is why, over time, there’s less sludge to pump out.

The process

Four steps, from dosing to a maintained system.

Each step builds on the last. Skipping ahead, or dosing inconsistently, is the most common reason results come slower than expected.

01

Dose

The correct Baczyme product is added at the source: powder or liquid, straight into the toilet, drain, septic tank, pit or advised dosing point. Formats are kept simple and measurement-free where possible — a scoop for household products, a continuous liquid dose for large sites, with exact quantities set to your system.

02

Activate

Under normal wastewater conditions the dormant spores become biologically active — they multiply and begin producing enzymes. No starter culture or additive is needed; everything required for the bacteria to establish is already in the product.

03

Digest

The bacteria and their enzymes work through the organic load — fats, oils, grease, proteins, paper and organic solids. Solids are liquefied first, then broken down. As the biology establishes, odour, chemical oxygen demand (COD) and nutrient levels start to fall.

04

Maintain

A living system stays healthy the way any living system does — with regular, consistent feeding. After the initial recovery phase, most sites move to a lower maintenance dose that holds performance and keeps odours down. Consistency matters more than intensity: a steady small dose beats an occasional big one.

Getting the best results

Give the biology what it needs

Baczyme works within the same conditions that keep any biological system healthy. Getting these right is the difference between fast results and a slow start.

✓ Supports performance

Help it along

  • Dose consistently.

Regular feeding keeps the population stable — the single biggest factor in results.

  • Keep it near neutral.

The bacteria are happiest around pH 7.

  • Let it breathe.

Most systems work best with a good oxygen supply and proper mixing.

  • Give it time.

The system needs enough retention time for the load to be treated.

! Can reduce effectiveness

Avoid

  • Bleach, Jik and disinfectants.

Anti-bacterial and biocidal products kill the bacteria you’ve just added. It is the most common reason treatment underperforms.

  • Harsh chemicals.

Strong acids and bases, and non-biodegradable detergents, damage the culture. You don’t have to stop cleaning — just choose biodegradable products and time dosing around them.

  • Adding “boosters.”

Everything needed for treatment is already in the product; extra additives aren’t required.

Biology has limits. So do we.

Results depend on system design, dosage, loading, pH, exposure to harsh chemicals and whether the product is dosed consistently. Baczyme is a maintenance and support tool — not a fix for damaged infrastructure or a fully blocked drain. When a site needs mechanical clearing, pumping or a repair, we’ll tell you.
