I founded Baczyme in 2015 on a straightforward conviction: clean water is a right, and the way we protect it has to be sustainable. South Africa doesn't have a shortage of sewage solutions. It has a shortage of ones that keep working.
I'd watched too many sites cycle through the same pattern — chemicals that only masked an odour for a week or so, tankers that move a problem somewhere else, infrastructure corroding while budgets went on treating symptoms. None of it addressed what was actually in the tank. Biology did. So I built a business around it: proven bacterial science, packaged simply enough that anyone could use it correctly, and measured rigorously enough that a municipal engineer can sign it off.
A decade on, we've treated overloaded municipal works, burst sewer lines, game reserve septic systems, golf estate dams and farm effluent. We remain a family-run business, and that is our special touch. I still take the first call on every project, because the right dosing programme depends on understanding the site — and understanding a site starts with a conversation, not a catalogue.
